HVAC Design & Building Services Engineering

Zone · the plant.

We size, calculate and specify the mechanical systems that condition a building — with performance, reliability and maintainability weighted equally, and no commercial tie to any manufacturer.

Most building services problems are not exotic. They are load calculations that were never revisited after the brief changed, plant selected at the edge of its operating envelope, and distribution designed for a floor plan that no longer exists. Small errors compound quietly until the building is occupied and someone is cold.

We do the unglamorous part properly: establish the real loads, size the plant against them, design the distribution that serves it, and write specifications precise enough that what gets installed is what was designed.

What we do

What we do

HVAC sizing and load calculation

Heating, cooling and ventilation loads established from the actual building fabric, use pattern and climate — not from a rule of thumb.

Plant and distribution design

Generation, hydronic and air distribution, terminal selection, and the space and access the plant will need for its whole service life.

Mechanical and energy systems

Heat pumps, solar thermal and photovoltaic integration, thermal storage, and the sequencing between them.

Technical specifications

Tender-ready documents that state performance requirements, not brand names — so the tender stays competitive and comparable.

Systems integration

Making the mechanical design, the electrical design and the control strategy agree with each other before site, rather than during it.

Design review and second opinion

An independent read of someone else’s design, when the stakes justify a second pair of eyes.

How we work

How we work

  1. 01

    Brief and constraints

What the building has to do, what the site allows, and what the budget and programme actually permit.

  2. 02

    Loads and options

Load calculation, then two or three system options costed against energy performance and maintainability.

  3. 03

    Developed design

Plant sizing, distribution layouts, schematics, and the control philosophy that will drive it.

  4. 04

    Specification and tender

Performance specifications, schedules and drawings, plus support through tender review.

  5. 05

    Site and handover

Technical support during construction, witness testing, and a handover a facilities team can actually operate.

What you get
  • Load calculations with stated assumptions
  • Plant and equipment schedules
  • Schematics and distribution layouts
  • Performance-based technical specifications
  • Control philosophy and sequence of operation
  • Tender review and technical clarifications
Common questions
Do you design as an independent consultant, or do you supply equipment?

Consultancy only. We do not sell, resell or represent equipment, and we take no supplier commission. That is the point of hiring an independent — the specification answers to the building, not to a product line.

Can you work alongside an existing design team?

Yes. A large share of our work sits inside an architect-led or contractor-led team, either as the building services designer or as an independent reviewer of a design already in progress.

Which countries do you work in?

We are established in Delft, Netherlands and work regularly in Spain from Valencia. We take projects across Europe, and we work in English, Spanish and Dutch.
