Challenge

Comfort and energy use are usually treated as separate problems, which leaves building controls blind to what occupants actually prefer. A control system tuned to a single assumed comfort band will be wrong for most of the people under it, and will be overridden.

Solution

We built a web-based tool that uses AI archetypes to link each person’s environmental preferences — temperature, light, acoustics and air quality — to energy use, so that preference becomes a control input rather than a complaint channel.

Impact

An occupant-centred control framework based on real preference data, supporting behavioural change and better energy performance, and feeding directly into our peer-reviewed work on personalised building controls.

Let’s discuss your project.

Tell us about the building and the systems involved. We reply to every serious enquiry.
